Antique George II Oak Bureau
A very nice small oak bureau dating from the reign of King George II.
This bureau has bags of character and charm and still retains its original handles**. The solid oak fall features a peacock fan inlay, a nautical compass and an oyster veneer inlay. This opens to rest on the lopers and reveals the fitted interior which again features an inlaid oyster veneer to the small cupboard door (with working lock). This is flanked either side by two fixed pilaster columns one of which holds a rather unusual and quite unique secret..
The two over three combination of graduated drawers displays the original herringbone inlay which has been repeated from the fall, yet again to further enhance the appeal of this bureau.

Antique Edward VII Solid Oak Roll-Top Bureau
A beautiful and very original Edwardian solid oak roll-top bureau. In perfect condition, in fact the best we have ever seen or likely to ever to get again. Dartington Antiques were lucky to be able to buy this desk from a Tavistock family estate, who had owned the desk from new!

The rolliing top (tambor) works perfectly and as with all these types of bureau when closed all the pedestal drawers lock automatically. The well fitted interior is complete along with two secret corner- bracket drawers. As you can see in the photgraphs the colour and patination is just right. A fantastic example of this style of desk with its orignal key.

An early George III Solid Oak Bureau
A perfectly coloured & wonderfully patinated Georgian oak bureau dating from around 1770. The fall, with working lock, opens to reveal a complete fitted interior with an old leather inset skiver. The centre small, lockable door opens to reveal a very old newspaper cutting which has been applied to the reverse. The colour and patination is exactly right on the interior as well as the exterior. The four graduated drawers again add to the overall appeal of this bureau with the original hand cut dovetailed linings. The original turned handles been replaced, more than a hundred years ago, with the more traditional looking Georgian open pierced brass plates and drop handles. Standing on bracket feet and still reataing its original rough sawn back panelling.

There are only few very old repairs to this bureau which are hard to see as they blended with time, polish, and wax. Overall a very good example.

Late Regency Rosewood Sofa Table
A superbly coloured late Regency Sofa Table. This antique has had just the right amount of exposure to allow figured grain to be seen at its best. As you can see in the photographs the colour is even all around with hardly any movement to the two drop leaves.

Standing on four squat brass castors, the quatrefoil base supports the single mahogany turned pedestal which leads to the frieze where there is a single flush faced, oak lined drawer on each side. Each drop leaf is supported by two tapered fly brackets.

Dimensions:
Height 27 inches
Width Closed 37 iniches
Width Open 57.5 inches
Depth 24 inches

The table has been professionally cleaned and the polish revived to retain the wonderful colour. (Carried out by Gilboy's Furniture Restorers) The colour and years of use have been retained and preserved which is difficult to achieve with Rosewood. The table has not been waxed at the time of photographing as we felt it showed off the amazing grain.

The foreshore depicts a gathering of silouhetted fishermen in front of a ketch rigged trawler dicussing the days business. whilst in the distance a moonlit trawler with full sails appears to be heading across the bows of a rather distant and ghost-like tall ship.

Fletcher has created a wonderful field of depth and atmosphere in both of these wonderful paintings.
